Torchwood by Robert G Parent

Torchwood
by Robert G Parent

Hey everyone, sorry for missing a couple of weeks. Work has been busy. I'm also trying to find time to record a gold master CD for this Christmas/Winter season and record video clips for my video show. Can I add more stuff to my to do list? Well, yes I can. But it's just so much fun.

This poem and last post's poem was actually written together. But I noticed they did not fit together. So I separated them and added/changed somethings from last post's poem.

Just because something is written doesn't mean its finished or cannot be changed. All of us here on the planet change, so why do we think our poems or any writtings cannot change -- they can.

enjoy the poem,
Robert

Truth of Torchwood by Robert G Parent

Truth of Torchwood by Robert G Parent

Hey everyone, this week's Scifi poem was inspired by the new Doctor Who -- a science fiction series on the Scifi Channel. Torchwood in the series is a secret government project envolving a weapon to distroy alien craft using the Earth's energy focused ( Makes you wonder if something like this hasn't really happen ).

Enjoy the poem,

Creation's Muse by Robert G Parent

Creation's Muse
by Robert G Parent

Inspiration can come from anyplace. It comes from your life and what you like to do, to watch, to listen to. One of the things I like is scifi and a variety of scifi movies and shows. What do you like to watch? listen to? or do? If your a writer, have you ever tried writing a poem, song, or story about a movie? ( It is fun )

This poem was inspired by an episode of "Deep Space 9" about Jake, who plays a writer. In the episode, a different type of alien appears to Jake and became his muse, but she feeds on his creativity and the thought processes in his brain/mind. Gives a new meaning to vampires. This week as I listened to the netcasts I listen to, I heard an episode of "Paranormal Cafe" where he was interviewing "the Alien Hunter". One thing I remembered in the show is that the Alien Hunter, who is a trained investigator, said that what we think about aliens, angels, and other mythological figures are not what we think they are. Well, that is one book I want to read. I'll look for the link and put it in the comments if you also want to read it.

Children of God by Robert G Parent

Children of God
by Robert G Parent

This is a popular topic when it comes to scifi -- God or Children of God. The Cylons in the "New Battlestar Galatica" consider themselves Children of God, which adds another layer to what or who God is. In a variety of New Age type books, the concept of Children of God has new meaning. It is said that ancient civilizations also played around and acted as gods. Its even said in some text that space aliens acted as gods and changed our DNA. Well the wheel of time comes around again. We act as gods in changing and shaping our world and our bodies. Hopfully we learn the lessons of the past and not be doomed to their fate, but instesd be greater then they of the past as we build on what they knew and always stay in the light.

Iro Loma by Robert G Parent

Iro Loma ( Before Morning )
by Robert G Parent

Hey all, this week I wanted to write a Vulcan poem. It was fun putting it together thanks to my Vulcan Grammer Book. I had to write the poem in English than translate it to Vulcan ( I have a whole new appreciation for translators ). This poem is all about the Long night of the Soul. My biggest challenge was coming up with a word that means what soul means because there is not a vulcan word for soul, so i had to combine two words ( Live Water -- reiya nasha ). I had fun doing this and will do it more often.

Enjoy the poem,
Bob

Dead Like Me by Robert G Parent

"Dead Like Me"
by Robert G Parent

This poem is about a series that I started watching on the Scifi channel. The Poem tells a story about a teen age girl who died and became a reeper. Now you'ld think that this series would be scary, but it is not. It's about some people who died, became reepers, who try and figure out what life is about. They are like in their own Bardo (a place inbetween life and death). Its not a new concept, but an old one that adds more to the mystery of creation. Enjoy the poem.

The Cylon's Dream by Robert G Parent

The Cylon's Dream
by Robert G Parent

I wrote this poem last year before the second season of "Battlestar Galactica". In that show, they left us with an idea that one of the cylons is going to have a baby ( the new cylons look like us and there are many copies ). Well that got me wondering, what if we were to get that advanced in technology that the machines we create will learn and become as us in everyway. What dream would they have if they could dream?

Time's Ideal by Robert G Parent

Time's Ideal
by Robert G Parent

I got the idea for this poem when I was meditating on the Star Trek Universe. This is why I like scifi because it takes my mind, my imagination to new thinking and new wisdom.
In the Star Trek Universe, everyones needs are met by the state (i.e. the federation). Well, this sounds like socialism to me. But, it was proven that socialism doesn't work and we are focusing on turning this world into more of a democratic place where all voices are heard. Even though we do have socialistic programs in this country (i,e. Social Security, medicare). It is also said that we do not have a true democracy that it is mixed with socialism. Maybe that is the magic bullet for peace, prosperity, and freedom. Maybe this is a step toward the true democracy in the future.

Hope you enjoy the poem,
Robertg
